Entities share progress during quarterly meeting

Representatives from Copperas Cove Independent School District, Chamber of Commerce, City of Copperas Cove and the Economic Development Corporation gathered Wednesday in the boardroom of the EDC to update one another before the end of the year. Deputy Superintendent Rick Kirkpatrick shared that the Pre-K program at Mae Stevens is at capacity with kids on a waiting list. Each classroom averages 17 and-a-half students with classes starting in the morning and afternoon. Kirkpatrick reported the State moved the annual STAAR test from March to April for fifth and eighth grade students. The standardized testing date moves from March 30 to April 20.
