CTCOG and KTMPO look for public input on roadway safety plan

Special to the Leader-Press

The Central Texas Council of Governments (CTCOG) and Killeen-Temple Metropolitan Planning Organization (KTMPO) are currently in the process of completing a Comprehensive Safety Action Plan for streets and roadway and are requesting input from the public.

KTMPO is a regional organization made up of representatives of Bell, Coryell, and Lampasas Counties, Fort Cavazos, as well as the cities of Copperas Cove, Lampasas, Killeen, Harker Heights, Belton, Temple, and Salado. This organizations maintains transportation and safety plans for the area, as well as allocates federal and state transportation funds to cities and counties.

This public input period provides an opportunity for citizens to share their thoughts and potentially influence the development of policies and projects that will shape the future of our transportation system.

To make it easy for community members to comment, CTCOG and KTMPO have developed an interactive map and a survey as tools to gather valuable feedback on specific areas of concern and provide suggestions for improvements.

Whether someone is a pedestrian, cyclist, driver, or public transit user, your insights are vital.

Residents can participate in several ways to include:

1. Visiting the interactive map at www.https://engagekh.com/ctcog-sap/ctcog-sap-ma . Pinpoint locations where you feel safety improvements are needed and provide specific feedback on issues such as crosswalks, bike lanes, and traffic signals.

2. Completing the survey at https://engagekh.com/ctcog-sap/4lu1. Share your thoughts on road conditions and safety measures. Your responses will help us prioritize projects for the coming years.

3. Accessing the website for both the above and more information at www.https://engagekh.com/ctcog-sap/.

The deadline to submit information is 5 p.m. on Friday, August 9. For more information, contact Uryan Nelson, Planning and Regional Services Division Director at Uryan.Nelson@ctcog.org or 254-770-2373.
