CTC holding trustee elections, filing ends Feb. 17

Although Copperas Cove voters do not generally see an election in May like other area voters, they will have the opportunity to cast ballots in May for two positions on the Central Texas College board of trustees.

The CTC board of trustees has filing open now for the May 6 election through Friday, Feb. 17, for two positions on the board.

Up for election are Place 6, held by incumbent Don Armstrong and Place 7, held by incumbent Rex Weaver, (Ret. Brig. Gen.).

Thus far, Don Armstrong has filed for re-election and also Camron Cochran (U.S. Air Force Ret., PhD in Strategic Leadership in Business Studies) has filed to run for Place 6, making this a contested race. 

Incumbent Rex Weaver is the sole candidate so far who has filed to run for Place 7.

The CTC board of trustees is made up of seven elected representatives from the school’s district, which include the Killeen and Copperas Cove independent school districts.

Each trustee serves a six-year term. To qualify to run for office, a candidate must have been resident of the state of Texas for at least one. Year, and at least six months in the school district prior to filing deadline; at least 18 years of age, and a registered voter in the territory elected from by the filing deadline.

There will not be other positions open on the board of trustees until the May 2025 election. Other trustees include Jimmy Towers (2025), Bill W. Beebe (2027), Brenda Coley (2027), Charles Hollinger (2025) and James A. Pierce, Jr. (2025).
