Longtime resident Edgar H. Rhode passes away.
By DAVID MORRIS
Born in 1916 on a farm outside Hampton, Nebraska, Edgar H. Rhode was the second of twelve children born to Fred and Elsie Rhode. Rhode lived and worked the family farm surviving the great depression and dust bowl before joining the Army in 1939 and making his way to central Texas. His love for the military and his wife of 66 years kept grounded in Copperas Cove where he laid the foundations for his church and helping to form the city that it is today. Rhode married his wife, Loretta, in February of 1944 while stationed at Camp Hood at the rank of 1st Lieutenant.
