The Copperas Cove Police Department announced on Monday that it is holding a contest to honor other essential workers who serve on the frontline of battling the COVID-19 pandemic.
The “Healthcare Heroes Door Decorating Contest” will recognize healthcare workers in our community and around the nation.
“We sincerely appreciate the sacrifices being made by these professionals and hope our community will help us in recognizing them,” said Lt. Kevin Miller with the Copperas Cove Police Department. “The contest is also an excellent way for families to come together on a project while at home practicing social distancing. Families are encouraged to be resourceful in using materials around the home and not go to stores to get what is needed.”
Miller said doors should be completed between Saturday, May 2 and Sunday, May 10, with judging to take place on Monday, May 11.
The winners will be announced on via social media on Wednesday, May 13.
“We will also be presenting some cool swag to the winners,” Miller said.
No registration is necessary to participate. Participants must email their name, address, and phone number to Lt. Kevin Miller at kmiller@copperascovetx.gov, or Sgt. Krystal Baker at kbaker@copperascovetx.gov.
The department is issuing a challenge to other cities to join in.
“Our surrounding communities are also encouraged to participate. Unfortunately, our judges won’t be able to leave the city limits, so prize eligibility will be limited to City of Copperas Cove residents and businesses,” Miller said.
Any questions regarding the contest should be directed to Lt. Kevin Miller, at kmiller@copperascovetx.gov or (254)547-8222 ext. 6956.
