On March 28, a contract was finalized and the Copperas Cove Independent School District purchased The National Banks of Central Texas building located at 408 S Main St. for $1.1 million. The purchase was made with funds from CCISD’s general fund account.
CCISD began negotiations with the National Banks of Central Texas for the property in fall of 2015. During the January 12 meeting of the CCISD board of trustees, the board unanimously voted to approve the purchase.
At that time, CCISD superintendent Joseph Burns said the need for more space and the ability to coordinate all of CCISD’s administrative services under one roof was one of the main factors in the district wanting to purchase that particular building, as well as other factors like increased student enrollment and an unclear future as it pertains to money received by federal government Impact Aid.
