CCISD to kick off online registration for returning students

Starting Monday, parents of returning students of the Copperas Cove Independent School District will have less paperwork to fill out.

CCISD is rolling out its brand-new online registration for returning students to all campuses, from the prekindergarten campus through high school.

The software used is the district's existing Skyward program, Family Access which parents can log onto, said Cindy Hutcherson, director of PEIMS and Student Services.

“This online registration process will do two things for both parents and the district: be convenient, and help efficiency,” Hutcherson added.

No more “but I already filled out all this same paperwork with the same information last year.”

Instead, Hutcherson said parents will be able to log in to the Family Access account with their password. The information fields for their student will automatically populate. Parents will then be able to make changes to addresses and phone numbers, if needed.

Families can also update emergency contacts, and complete four forms to include: Student Health, Directory Information, Acknowledgment of Code of Conduct/Student Handbook and Student Responsible Use Policy for District Electronic Communication System, as well as the Military/Foster Information.

After the information has been verified and changed, if needed, parents will receive an email confirmation that the registration has been process, Hutcherson said.

“They will also receive an auto-metric call about when to stop by campuses to pick up bus passes and complete lunch forms,” she added. “Parents of high school students will also be able to drop off their students to get their parking passes and IDs (during August registration), instead of having to wait in line with them.”

For those who don't remember their passwords or need assistance setting up their Family Access accounts, the district is providing onsite assistance next week at Copperas Cove Junior High School's Computer Lab 410, located at 702 Sunny St., entering at the cafeteria entrance on the left rear of the building.

Hours of assistance will be Monday and Wednesday from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.; Tuesday and Thursday from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m.; and Friday from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m.

Those with students at the high school may stop by the campus from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. to fill out a Family Access application.

Online registration will be “live” from July 27 until August 10.

New student registration will take place August 5 and 6 for prekindergarten through junior high, from 8 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. All forms are available for download at the CCISD website below.

At the high school, August 10 is the Bulldawg Welcome for freshman from 8 a.m. until noon. Onsite registration for seniors will be August 11 from 8:30 until noon, and juniors from 12:30 until 3:30 p.m. Sophomores will register from 8:30 until noon, with freshmen registering from 12:30 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. August 13 will be open registration at the high school from 8:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m.

The new online registration is part of CCISD's Vision 2020 technology plan, where the goal is to fully infuse technology in all aspects of the district.
