By Friday, April 3, students in the Copperas Cove Independent School District will have been off campuses for a total of four weeks.
CCISD announced on Wednesday afternoon that it would extend suspension of its normal operations, in an effort to slow the spread of COVID-19.
So far, there has not been a confirmed case of positive COVID-19 in Coryell County, although a Belton man who works at Laerdal in Gatesville, tested positive for the virus that is spreading throughout Texas and the United States.
“Our health officials report that cases are continuing to spread in neighboring counties, and the increased possibility of confirmed cases in Coryell County seems likely. Suspending operations for this length of time will allow us to determine, in coordination with state and local officials, whether the virus is continuing to have community spread or whether it has been contained,” the district announced in a press release on Wednesday afternoon.
The district will provide an update on resuming classes, or continuing to remain closed, by 5 p.m. on Wednesday, April 1.
Like it has done this week, the district will continue to provide grab-and-go breakfast and lunch for district students, along with instructional packets for grades PreK through grade 12. The district is also providing Instructional support online through Schoology.
Meals and instructional packets may be picked up at.
