CCISD board of trustees to have special meeting Friday

The Copperas Cove Independent School District could name a new athletic director/head football coach as soon as Friday afternoon.

The CCISD board of trustees is holding a special meeting on Friday, May 11 at 3 p.m. A closed session for “personnel matters” is part of the agenda, as well as an agenda item to “consider and take action to approve the employment of an athletic director/head coach.”

Former AD/head coach Jack Welch’s retirement took effect on May 1, with the district having the vacant position posted on its website as of Thursday, April 26. The full-time position has had a posted salary range of $81,030. No candidates were named on the agenda packet.

Also on Friday’s agenda, the board will also consider and act to approve the construction manager at-risk method for the upcoming renovations to the Fairview/Jewell Elementary campus

The meeting will be held in the CCISD administration board room located at 703 W. Ave. D.
