Three Copperas Cove alumni, Glynn Powell (class of 1954) and Les and Linda Ledger (class of 1962) will be recognized as 2022 inductees to the Copperas Cove Education Foundation’s Hall of Honor, which recognizes Copperas Cove alumni for their impact on the lives of children.
Past honorees have included John Hull, Dr. Karen Harrison, Joan Manning, and Keith Turner.
Powell and the Ledgers were the 2020 inductees. However, the foundation did not hold galas in 2020 and 2021, so they will be honored in 2022.
Tickets are now on sale for the annual Boots ‘n Buckles Gala, set for Saturday, April 9. The cost is $50 per person. The night starts with appetizers and non-alcoholic beverages with a social time from 6-6:30 p.m., followed by a catered dinner, dancing, the Hall of Honor program, and auction. The event is BYOB.
Tickets are available for purchase from any foundation board member, or from Shelley Brown, the CCEF administrative assistant, the CCISD Administration building, located at 408 S. Main St. For more information about tickets and sponsorship opportunities, call (254) 547-1227.
The annual gala raises funds for the foundation, which annually provides innovative teaching grants to educators in the Copperas Cove Independent School District. The funds also go to annual scholarships and the Walk of Fame, which recognizes the top 10% of graduating high school seniors.
Since 2008, a total of 432,791 in grants have been distributed by the foundation, which distributed funds in 2020 and 2021 due to the education foundation sponsors, despite the pandemic and not being able to hold the galas during those years.
