Fort Hood calls upon local communities to help combat brush fire

High winds and dry vegetation led to a pair of brush fires scorching two ranges and more than 200 acres Tuesday evening, into the early morning hours Wednesday as the blaze edged close to FM 116 North between Copperas Cove and Pidcoke threatening off post housing in the House Creek North subdivision. Copperas Cove, Killeen and Harker Heights fire departments aided Fort Hood in battling the blaze as part of the West side strike team used both land and air apparatuses to fight the fire.
