Copperas Cove’s Altrusa members celebrated 25 years of working together to make Copperas Cove a better place to live.
The celebration was held Sunday at Stoney Brook Assisted Living of Copperas Cove and began at 2 p.m. They offered a variety of tasty snacks and drinks to those who attended. They also raffled off a quilt.
Altrusa International was founded in Nashville, Tennessee in 1917 and was known then as Altrusa Institute. Back then, record numbers of women were working during WWI and they felt there was a need for a women’s civic organization. Since then, the organization has grown and includes groups throughout the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico, and New Zealand. The group now includes both men and women; anyone interested in volunteering to serve and benefit their community is welcome to become an Altrusan
