Star Group – VHV donates to Mae Stevens students

Children in need at the Mae Stevens Early Learning Academy will receive a helping hand, thanks to a $250 donation by Star Group – Veterans Helping Veterans on Saturday at the group’s monthly meeting. Mary Derrick, principal of Mae Stevens, was present to receive the check. “This will go toward helping students in need of coats, or school supplies,” said Derrick. The group also took stock of last month’s main activity, in which they distributed more than 350 Thanksgiving baskets to families in need. “I’d like to hear two positive things about the event, and two areas we can improve,” president Jonathan Haywood told the group.
