The piles of food just kept getting higher and higher. Gifted Education students at Fairview-Miss Jewell Elementary School were glad to see it coming in and continued to pack it and track it per class. Fairview/Miss Jewell was one of the 11 schools in CCISD that participated in the Food for Families Food Drive sponsored by H-E-B and KWTX Channel 10. The GE students in Terri Smith’s class collected the food and displayed it in a central location. “They kept graphs by class in order to enhance the drive and in the spirit of competition, pit class against class. The food drive competition was held only a week and was so successful that students were still bringing food items in on the last day,” Smith said.
