Improvements on Courtney Lane continue as construction to expand portions of the sidewalks to 10 feet wide is underway. The project that began in 2011 with a traffic impact analysis has included pavement markings, installation of a right turn lane at S.C. Lee Junior High and finalizes with the sidewalks and ADA ramps along Courtney Lane. In 2013 the Killeen Temple Metropolitan Planning Organization (KTMPO) awarded the city $218,506 for Phase II of the project with a local contribution of $148,541 (20 percent). Two bids were received for the project with the lowest bid coming from Etcon, Inc out of Gatesville at $354,549, higher than the awarded funds, leaving an $81,416 shortfall.
