14-year-old Shelby Fletcher passed away in October due to a tragic ATV accident. It’s always heart-breaking for a family to deal with any loss—the loss of one so young is even more so—and the added burden of paying for the funeral costs can become overwhelming.
Fortunately for the Fletchers, friends and family pitched in and held a Shelby Fletcher Memorial Benefit Saturday at Joker’s Southern Nights in Copperas Cove with all proceeds going toward paying for Shelby’s headstone.
To raise money, the event invited guests to participate in a 50/50 raffle and/or a silent auction. They also offered food plates—either a $10 brisket dinner plate or a $5 hotdog plate. Various bands provided the entertainment and played music throughout the event.
