Following in the footsteps of Thomas Edison, Paige Perry touched tiny wires to the end of a common battery and light flashed before her eyes. Fourth grade students at Martin Walker Elementary School in Copperas Cove lit up their classroom through electric circuits, discovering how they work and are created. A simple electrical circuit consists of a power source, two conducting wires with one end of each being attached to each terminal of the cell, and a small lamp to which the free ends of the wires leading from the cell are attached. Each student was given two size C batteries, a light source or small buzzer, and a circuit board with trailing wires. Students then experimented with different materials to make closed circuits for light bulbs and buzzers.
