Library to kick off summer reading program June 8

Sign-ups are now under way for the Copperas Cove Public Library’s children’s summer reading program, free for children ages one through 15.
Children ages one through 11 may complete Reading Time Logs at three levels to receive rewards of coupons and toys.
The Summer Reading Kick-Off party is set for Thursday, June 8 at 2 a.m. This year, it’s being held in the Copperas Cove Civic Center to accommodate as many as possible. During past years, the kickoff would fill the library’s meeting room to capacity.
Accompanying the summer reading program, there will be Toddler Time for children ages one to three on Tuesdays at 10 a.m., with a weekly Story Time for children ages three to five on Thursdays at 10 a.m. Toddler Time and Story Time have stories, songs and age appropriate crafts for children to complete.
The library is holding programs each week on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. For Thursday afternoon programs, seating is limited, with tickets being available at the library at 9 a.m. the Thursday morning of the event.
The Tuesday program lineup for teens ages 11-15 includes:
June 13, Dance Party, learn to line dance with a professional instructor 2 p.m.
June 20, Horse Rescue Farm Visit, 2 p.m.
June 27, Technology Fun, design an object with the 3D printer, 2 p.m.
July 11, I Can Build That!, sponsored by the Maker Club, 2 p.m.
July 18, Build A Better World, 2 p.m.
July 25, End of Program Teen Pizza Party with Domino’s Pizza, 2 p.m.
The Wednesday program schedule includes:
June 14, Medieval Combat and Crafts
June 21, Take Care of Our Animals
June 28, Take Care of Your World (Keep Copperas Cove Beautiful Presentation)
July 5, Build A Better World, Math & Science Fun
July 12, Self Defense America, 2 p.m.
July 19, Build A Safer World, Copperas Cove Fire Department Presentation, 2 p.m.
July 26, End of Program Pizza Party for Ages 1-11, 1 and 3 p.m.
The Thursday show lineup for all ages includes:
June 8, Epic Entertainment 2 p.m., Copperas Cove Civic Center
June 15, Lucas Miller, Singing Biologist, 2 p.m. and 6 p.m.
June 22, Safari Greg, 2 p.m. and 6 p.m.
June 29, Austin Reptile Show, 2, 4 and 6 p.m.
July 6, Wild Things Zoofari, 2 p.m., 4 p.m., and 6 p.m.
July 13, African Safari, stories and songs with Elizabeth Kahura, 2 p.m. and 6 p.m.
July 20, David Gish Magic show, 2 p.m. and 6 p.m.
July 26 Pizza Party for ages 1-11, for those reaching all three reading goals, 1 p.m., 3 p.m.
Children under age ten must be accompanied by an adult at all times in the library. Complete calendars and details will also be provided at sign-up.
