H-E-B Summer Run to Fun 5K set for Saturday

The annual H-E-B Summer Run to Fun 5K is set for Saturday at 8 a.m. at Copperas Cove’s South Park.
This chip timed event, held by the Copperas Cove Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Bureau, is part of the Cen-Tex Race Series.
The H-E-B Summer Run to Fun 5K is the only Cen-Tex Race Series event during the month of June, so it provides an opportunity for race series participants to gain more points.
Registration is $25 online at https://runsignup.com/Race/Events/TX/CopperasCove/SummerRuntoFun. Entry fees are non-refundable and entries are non-transferable.
Awards will be given for male and female runners and walkers, with Cen-Tex Series points given in Cen-Tex Series age groups.
Plaques will be awarded to overall male and female winners for runners and medals to the top three finishers in each age group for runners.
Age groups include: 11 and under, 12-15, 16-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75+.
The route begins at the South Park walk/jog trail, then winds through the nearby neighborhood via Dennis Drive, Hughes Avenue, Boland Street, Mattie Drive, then back to Dennis and back into South Park, where it ends at the park’s walking trail.
Plenty of event parking is available at nearby Martin Walker Elementary School.
Participants will receive a swag bag full of goodies from Copperas Cove Chamber of Commerce businesses.
