The City of Copperas Cove is preparing for some end-of-summer food and fun for the area with its Food Truck Festival, set for Saturday, July 29 from 4-8 p.m. at Ogletree Gap Park, located at 1878 Post Office Rd.
“Interest on Facebook has been incredible,” said the city’s tourism coordinator, Heather Bryan, about the city’s inaugural food truck festival. “We are currently tracking over 26,000 views. Based on previous city events where we have seen upwards of 6,000 people in attendance, we believe this event is going to be a great success.”
Presently, Bryan has confirmed eight trucks will be on site, with three more applications pending and others to be confirmed. Among those confirmed as of July 14 were Little J Tacos, Frigid Frog, Lowe’s Legs, Detroit’s Own Wings & Things, Cuban Corner, Check Point Germany, E & J Mobil Grill, and Snofellas.
Admission to the event is $5 per carload, with no charge for games and entertainment at the park.
Adults aged 21 and up who have a valid government-issued identification will be given wristbands to purchase tickets to turn in for beer, with domestic and imported beer available at the beer tent.
The festival entertainment lineup starts with Will Janke, who’ll open the festival with the National Anthem, followed by an acoustic set from 4:15 to 5:45 p.m. The Brett Hendrix Band will take the stage from 6-8 p.m.
In addition to food and entertainment, there will be games for adults and children.
“We have an adult game section that will include a washer tournament, horseshoes, life-size Jenga and dunk tanks,” Bryan said. “The amazing kids zone includes a 24-foot vertical rush climbing wall and slide, a 40-foot, seven-element obstacle course, Toy Story and Scooby Doo bounce houses, a jump and slide bounce combo and a bungee run.”
