Tenants and non-residents of Copperas Cove alike came together at Stoney Brook Assisted Living Center to celebrate the Spirit of ’45.
Being no stranger on the importance of remembering our nation’s veterans, Senior Executive Director Sandy Carlson stated, “We’re so happy and proud to be able to hold events like these for the veterans and commemorate their legacy. This time we’re only seeing a few World War II veterans. Currently we have five residents who are WWII veterans, while last year we had around eight. It’s becoming more important to give a venue to broadcast their memories as their numbers sadly diminish.”
With the First Calvary band playing in the center of the room, veterans and the civilians who assisted in the war effort celebrated, danced and conversed in each other’s society as if the war had just ended.
