Star Group - Veterans Helping Veterans of Copperas Cove came together for its monthly meeting, which is held on the first Saturday of every month.
President Jonathan Haywood opened the meeting, and after the Pledge of Allegiance and an opening prayer by Pastor McCaskill, they got to their agenda. The first highlight was their up-to-date financial report given by Mr. Barker. In the report he pointed out that the group’s general fund ending balance as of March 19 is $2,960.84. This is up from $2,593 and includes the addition of donations that were made of $1,131.42 and subtraction of expenditures of $763.58. Barker also talked about the special project fund balance which as of March 19 started at $35,504.68 and now has an ending balance of $38,444.68. That total includes donations of $3,040 and expenditures of $100.
The next item that was discussed was the ice cream social which the group will hold at the Temple VA on April 14 from 1 to 3 p.m., and the Killeen Relay for Life which will be held on May 14 from 7 p.m. until 7 a.m. on May 15. The group will also particpate in Copperas Cove’s Relay for Life on April 30 from 3 p.m. until 5 a.m. on May 1.
