Runoff election Tuesday for Copperas Cove city council Place 6

After one week of early voting, Nov. 30-Dec. 4, a total of 751 Copperas Cove voters cast ballots for either Terri Deans or Vonya Hart in the runoff election for Copperas Cove city council place 6. 

Of those 751, a total of 384 ballots were cast at the Copperas Cove Early Voting Center and 367 were received as mail-in ballots. 

Today is election day, with polls open from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. at the Copperas Cove Early Voting Center, located at 508-B Cove Terrace Shopping Center. 

Vonya Hart and Terri Deans are on the ballot after being the top two vote-getters in a four-way race for Place 6 in the Nov. 3 general election. Hart received 2262 votes, or 26 percent, and Deans received 3,299, or 38 percent. A total of 9,898 Copperas Cove voters cast ballots for the Place 6 election on Nov. 3, in Coryell and Lampasas County. 

The winner of the runoff will replace incumbent Marc Payne, who was elected in 2017.
