I should have known by the name of the golf course what I was in for—The Sand Trap. “It’ll be fun,” my friends said. “It’s not like miniature golf,” they said. So we pulled into the parking lot of the nine-hole golf course. It had none of the cutesy little windmills or lion’s mouths of miniature golf courses. I was impressed to learn I had putter, and a driver, and one other kind of club to use on the course. We began at the first hole, working together in pairs. I don’t remember who I was paired up with.
