Falling through the cracks

It’s that time of year again—kids and parents getting their school shopping lists together, teachers diving into their classrooms and making bulletin boards, writing lesson plans. The 2014-2015 school year lies ahead, shining like a new penny. We have our checklists of everything we need to do, whether it’s planning one more pool party or barbecue, thinking about a few more days to sleep in. But what I think about also, iswondering how we can keep kids from falling through the educational cracks. It’s not just up to the teachers and principals, or someone else. It’s our responsibility.
