Change is in the wind at ‘Dawg Stadium
I’m just like all the other Bulldawg football fans around town. Wondering.
Every time I sit down in a coffee shop, even sometimes before getting parked in my seat, folks have been coming over to wonder with me, always asking “Well, how are we gonna do this year?” My answer is always the same..”We’ll be fine.”
Change is something I’ve never dealt well with, but it’s time and after getting to know new head coach Jack Alvarez, while watching his practices and seeing the Dawgs in action against Hays, it looks like Cove is on the right track. Of course, the games aren’t played on paper, or in the mind of a 40-year fan like me. We’ll see Friday night when the Bulldawgs swarm out of the locker room to line up against the Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo Leon Tigres from Monterrey, Mexico.
This international opponent has progressed like night and day since they first came calling several years ago. They are huge..maybe the biggest team we’ll see between now and the playoffs and their speed has probably gotten better too. Los Tigres have had some success against Texas teams, so our new-look Bulldawgs will have to give it their best. And they will.
Another thing I’m wondering about is why, after eight years, the Lady Dawg volleyball team was unceremoniously dumped from last weekend’s Leander Volleypalooza tournament. Strange..but, right now..
We are ready for some football!
Go Dawgs!
