Waffle Cone loses ice cream, tries to keep doors open

John Hayes has owned the popular Waffle Cone ice cream parlor here in the Cove for five years. Business has been good and he knows most of his customers by name and what their favorite ice cream treat is. That’s changed for now. The Waffle Cone served Blue Bell ice cream exclusively, that is until a virus called Listeria hit the Broken Arrow, Oklahoma plant. That forced not only a complete recall of products, but a shutdown of the Blue Bell plant in both locations, both Broken Arrow and Brenham, Texas, until the source could be found and destroyed.
