The Society for Creative Anachronism, a medieval and renaissance hobby group with a local chapter in the Fort Hood area, hosted a medieval shoemaking class Wednesday night in the Copperas Cove Public Library. The twohour event began at 8 p.m. and was free and open to all who wished to experience shoemaking. Robert Ruiz (known in the SCA as Timur Barte) conducted the shoemaking class. Ruiz covered the history of shoemaking from primitive times up until current times. As part of the class, Ruiz discussed the various types of materials, crafting methods and styles of shoes throughout the ages.
