Registration ongoing for Chamber of Commerce’s Gallop or Trot 5K

The Copperas Cove Chamber of Commerce is hosting its annual H-E-B Plus! Gallop or Trot 5K on Saturday, Sept. 17. The chip timed event will begin 8 a.m. at the Copperas Cove Civic Center.

 

Registration is $20 through September 9 and is $25 thereafter. Entry fees are non-refundable and non-transferable. The first 150 paid entries will receive dri-fit shirts and participation medals will go to the first 300 registrants.

Cen-Tex Series points will be given in Cen-Tex Series age groups, with plaques awarded to overall male and female winners for runners. Divisions and awards are for male and female runners and walkers. Medals will go to top three finishers in each age group for runners, with no duplicate awards.

 

Age groups include 11 and under, 12-15, 16-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70+.

 

The event begins and ends at the Copperas Cove Civic Center, with the route going along Courtney Lane and throughout the residential area to include Dekort Circle, North 23rd Street, Fairbanks Street, Courtney Lane again with a turnaround, then back onto West Avenue B where the route heads back to City Park and the finish line at the Civic Center.

 

The race will conclude in time for the opening of the Star Group Veterans Helping Veterans annual Health Fair which will be held at the Civic Center.
